Googong Public School
Pedavoli Architects were engaged in the design of this 700-student school, located on the lands of the Ngambri, Ngunnawal, and Ngarigo peoples.
The school has been developed in close collaboration with the local elders to emphasise the importance of the local valleys and hills that surround the site. All facets of the built form – from the orientation to the framed openings – add to connect the school to its natural surrounds. The school has been designed to augment solar access, water harvesting, and the quality of green areas and outdoor learning spaces on site, further fostering this importance of connecting to site.
Both the internal and external learning environments provide flexibility, so that the school and its evolving techniques of learning and teaching can be embraced long into the future of the building and the area.
