Riverina Institute of TAFE, Temora College
The objective for the design of Temora TAFE, a greenfield site, was to develop teaching and learning facilities to meet the training needs of industry and business in Temora and the surrounding region.
The campus consists of five new buildings - a Campus Administration building, an Education and Computing building, Student Services and a General Classrooms building, PA looked to ensure that the Mechanical Workshop and Metal Fabrication & Welding / Fitting building, the Agriculture Intensive and Wool Classing building were all connected by a series of covered open links.
The unique design was inspired by cues from the local aviation industry, featuring dramatic, shaped awnings and walkways that reference elements found in the aerodynamic aircraft industry. Runway like lighting pathways give weight to this concept.
The selection of materials include a grey coloured precast concrete base with metal wall cladding above, an orange coloured precast concrete hood and glazed element to the short end of each building, an array of coloured entry doors, brightly coloured columns and soaring white soffits to cover all walkways and links.
