Bellevue Hill House
In close collaboration with Tonka Andjelkovic Design & 360 Design Landscapes, PA undertook works for alterations & additions to an existing family home. Largely clad in sandstone, the house strives to balance the contemporary with craft.
Alterations on the ground and first floor were designed to open the house visually and spatially to the surrounding garden. As the eye moves from the ground floor up, we see a transition from an orthogonal, panelised exterior to a contemporary top floor.
The third level is a completely new addition, with a carefully considered zinc roof form that folds to follow the topography in some parts and tips up to capture the sun in others. It is considered the fifth elevation of the home. The low profile of the roof allows for the provision of the additional floor with negligible impact on the sight lines from the surrounding houses/streets and the building’s overall mass. Additional works included a pool refurbishment at the rear of the home, including a daybed and shade structure.
